India To Receive Intel Powered XOLO X900 Android Phone

India will be one of the worlds first countries to receive new Android smartphone’s powered by Intel silicon (after Europe, and china at some point). Lava International is a recognized brand in the Asian subcontinent and as such Intel has partnered with the company to produce the new phones for the country.

While exact specifications for upcoming phone(s) remain to be announced, there are a few things known at present. For starters, the phone will pack a 4-inch display with a resolution somewhere in the range of 1024×600. This high resolution display, while not quite 720p HD, will be driven by an Intel Atom Z2460 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz. It will also have both front and rear facing cameras, the exact megapixel count is unknown. Connectivity wise it will feature WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, and HSPA+. Other goodies include HDMI. Judging by the provided picture it is safe to assume the phone will ship with Android version 2.3 (Gingerbread). Unfortunately no word on whether or not this smartphone will receive the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) upgrade. Only time will tell.

Sound off in the comments section below if you think these Intel-powered Android phones are going to be a hit. Personally, having used Android tablets that ran on Intel Atom CPU’s I can say the experience was quite smooth. So if the price is right – affordable. Then these new phones may go far.
